In hartje New York verrijst een architectonisch hoogstandje van het architectuurbureau REX. Voor de gevel wordt beroep gedaan op Portugees marmer. Met de laatste technologieën worden marmeren tegels, bewerkt, gescand en vervolgens een-voor-een beoordeeld voor de gevelcompositie voordat deze de Atlantische oceaan oversteken. An architectural wonder is under construction in the heart of New York, designed by architecture firm REX. The facade features Portuguese marble. The latest technology is used to treat, scan and then assess the marble tiles one by one for the facade composition before they cross the Atlantic. Filmmakers Ghinițoiu and Mori elegantly capture the time-consuming design process and logistical challenges, leaving you no alternative but to admire this beautiful art centre and wonder if it’s all worth it.

De ongebruikte steengroeves op Menorca werden voor lange tijd als afvalstortplaats gebruikt. Beeldhouwer Laetitia gaat als jonge student op reis naar Menorca raakt gefascineerd door deze sculpturale landschappen. Ze besluit de groeves in haar afstuderen centraal te stellen. Haar scriptie was het begin van haar missie: de steengroeves als erfgoed te bestempelen. Na jaren van strijd zien zowel steenhouwers, overheid als toeristen de schoonheid in van deze uitgegraven landschappen. De documentaire volgt Laetitia en steenhouwer Toni die langzaam zijn groeve uitgraaft tot hij niet meer verder kan.
For a long time, the disused stone quarries of Menorca were used as rubbish dumps. As a young student, sculptor Laetitia travelled to Menorca and became fascinated by these sculptural landscapes. She decided to devote her graduation work to the quarries. Her thesis marked the start of her mission: to have the stone quarries designated as heritage sites. After years of campaigning, the stonemasons, government and tourists now recognize the beauty of these excavated landscapes. The documentary follows Laetitia and stonemason Toni, who slowly excavates his quarry until he cannot continue.
