Vijf dagen vol film over stad en architectuur
Voor de veertiende keer vindt het grootste filmfestival ter wereld over stedelijke ontwikkeling en gebouwde omgeving plaats in architectuurstad Rotterdam. In een wereld die op zijn kop staat, waar de uitdagingen immens zijn en waar nieuwe werkelijkheden over elkaar heen buitelen, focust AFFR op een moment van stilstaan. Of in cinematografische termen: een freeze frame.
Van 5 tot en met 9 oktober 2022 is LantarenVenster de place to be voor iedereen die zich wil laten meeslepen door de beste documentaires, de spannendste speelfilms en de meest fascinerende shorts over stad en architectuur. In een programma vol premières en niet eerder ontdekte films beantwoorden filmmakers al je vragen, zijn er verhelderende inleidingen en gaan betrokkenen met elkaar in gesprek. Er zijn masterclasses, een VR-lounge, short-programma’s en filmklassiekers. Voor wie niet kan kiezen is er op zondag de Best of AFFR.
Dit jaar is er speciale focus op een aantal interessante en actuele onderwerpen. Zoals de family affairs van architecten, de manier waarop omgegaan wordt met het brutalistische erfgoed, de opkomst van privaat gefinancierde musea en de toekomst van onze voedselvoorziening. Ook duiken we in de imaginaire werelden van grote filmmakers als Tati en Fellini.

From 5 to 9 October 2022, LantarenVenster is the place to be for everybody who wants to be carried away by the best documentaries, the most exciting feature films and the most fascinating shorts about the city and architecture. In a programme full of premieres and previously undiscovered films, filmmakers answer all your questions, experts offer illuminating introductions, and people involved discuss the big issues. Also included are masterclasses, a VR lounge, short programmes and film classics. For those who cannot choose, there is a Best of AFFR on Sunday.
The festival explores the relationship between film, architecture and the city, but also looks at the world at large, with an extensive programme ranging from investigative, in-depth documentaries to light-hearted, engaging movies. This year, there is special focus on the Family Affairs of architects (family members making films about their architect relations), on the treatment of the Brutalist legacy, on the rise of privately fundedmuseums, on the imaginary worlds created by great filmmakers like Tati and Fellini, and on the future of food.
