Seret International, het Israëlische film- en televisiefestival, brengt het beste van Israëlische speelfilms, documentaires, korte films en tv in Londen, Berlijn, Amsterdam en Santiago, Chili. In 2018 heeft het festival zijn eerste vertoning in Rotterdam.
Yoel, een senior Holocaust-onderzoeker, bevindt zich midden in een veelomvattende juridische strijd met machtige krachten in Oostenrijk, over een brute moordpartij op joden die plaatsvond tegen het einde van de Tweede Wereldoorlog in het dorp Lensdorf. Tijdens het onderzoek van het incident bestudeert Yoel gerubriceerde getuigenissen van overlevenden van de Holocaust, en tot zijn schrik en verbazing vindt hij een getuigenis van zijn moeder. Een getuigenis waarvan hij niet wist dat die bestond. In haar verhaal bekent ze een substantieel geheim uit haar verleden.
Yoel, die een dubbelonderzoek uitvoert, persoonlijk en wetenschappelijk, zit gevangen tussen muren van stilte. Aan de ene kant ontkenning van de Holocaust door de dorpelingen, en aan de andere kant de stilte van zijn moeder over haar verleden. Als historicus met een onwankelbare toewijding aan de waarheid besluit hij zijn onderzoek voort te zetten, zelfs ten koste van zijn persoonlijke en professionele leven.

Yoel, a senior Holocaust researcher, is in the midst of a widely covered legal battle with powerful forces in Austria, concerning a brutal massacre of Jews that took place toward the end of WWII in the village of Lensdorf. While investigating the incident Yoel examines classified testimonies of Holocaust survivors, and to his shock and surprise he finds a testimony given by his mother, a testimony he didn’t know existed. In her testimony she confesses to a substantial secret from her past.
Yoel, who’s conducting a double-investigation, personal and scientific, is trapped between walls of silence – on one side, denial of the Holocaust on the part of the villagers, and on the other, his mother’s silence regarding her past. As a historian with an unshakeable commitment to the truth, he decides to continue his investigations even at the cost of ruining his personal and professional life.
