LantarenVenster proudly presents: Queer Cinema, a monthly movie night dedicated to showcasing the best of queer cinema. This edition is part of our film program Feminist Perspectives and will be hosted by Feministas Rotterdam, a trans inclusive anticolonial feminist collective of Spanish-speaking migrants based in and around Rotterdam. Una banda de chicas is a powerful documentary that sheds light on the challenges faced by music bands formed by women, non-binary, and trans people in a world shaped by heteropatriarchal and colonial structures. It explores the role of women and gender minorities in the Argentinian local music scene and reveals not only the obstacles they face but also the resilience, creativity, and joy that fuel their resistance.
Feministas Rotterdam
Feministas Rotterdam is a trans-inclusive, anticolonial feminist collective of Spanish-speaking migrants based in Rotterdam and its surroundings. Founded in 2021, our collective emerged from the urgent need to create intersectional feminist spaces and strengthen community bonds in the city.
For us, March 8th is not a day of celebration, is a day of protest! It is a moment to take to the streets, to be loud, to make our presence impossible to ignore. It reminds us of past struggles, recognizes the rights we have won, and fuels our fight for justice that is still being denied. In the same way that “Una banda de chicas” amplifies voices that refuse to be silenced, we believe in the power of collective action, solidarity, and resistance.
