Welcome to LantarenVenster! The Rotterdam based theater for quality cinema and the best jazz at one of the most exciting spots in town. With over 9,600 film screenings annually, more than 120 concerts, various major festivals, educational projects, conferences, and other public events, there’s always something happening seven days a week. Feel free to join us!
FILM
Featuring five screening rooms, we offer a new film program every week, showcasing the finest films, including Oscar winners, documentaries, classics, world cinema, and children’s films. With a focus on non-Western and predominantly European quality films, LantarenVenster presents a selection not commonly found in mainstream cinemas. Annually, we host major festivals like Camera Japan, Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Cinekid Festival, and the Rotterdam Open Screen Film Festival, providing a platform to admire the new generation of filmmakers. Our film program consists of films from all over the world. They are being screened in the original versions and mostly subtitled in Dutch.
LIVE MUSIC
Each year, we organize over 120 concerts spanning jazz, funk, soul, pop, blues, folk and world music, with a clear emphasis on jazz. Hosting renowned artists like Joshua Redman, John Scofield, Snarky Puppy, Brad Mehldau, Marcus Miller, Orchestra Baobab, and Oumou Sangaré, we also dedicate attention to emerging and local talent. Since music is an international language, our music program is always language no problem and open to anyone who enjoys a great, live experience!
FOOD, DRINK & THE BEST VIEWS
LantarenVenster is situated at the heart of Kop van Zuid, in a booming part of Rotterdam on the south side. You can easily spend a day wandering around and discovering the neighborhoud, sprinkled with bars, museums and more sights to be seen. LantarenVenster’s wide terrace gives splendid views of Rijnhaven, a quiet harbour with a floating park bobbing on it and a city beach in the making. Join us daily in our café-restaurant with these both lively and relaxing views. Whether for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, pair it with a film, concert or simply enjoy a cup of coffee.
